Girls Incorporated is a national non-profit youth organization dedicated to inspiring all girls to be strong, smart and boldSM. Girls Inc. provides researched, outcome-based, and age-progressive programs to millions of American girls, particularly those in high-risk, under-served areas. Innovative programs help girls confront subtle societal messages about their value and potential, and prepare them to lead successful, independent and fulfilling lives.
For more than 60 years, Girls Incorporated of Memphis has responded to the changing needs of girls through programs, research and advocacy designed to build girls' skills and self-confidence. In 2006, Girls Incorporated of Memphis served more than 10,500 girls in Memphis and Shelby County.
Our History
The roots of Girls Incorporated of Memphis can be traced back to Lucille DeVore Tucker's visit to Bethlehem, Pa. in 1945. After Lucille saw the work of the Girls Club there, she returned to Memphis determined to organize a similar program.

Funding
Girls Incorporated of Memphis is a non-profit organization that receives more than half of its budget from government grants. In addition, roughly 15 percent of their budget comes from United Way of the Mid-South and another 15 percent from foundations and corporations.
Girls Bill of Rights
Through the Girls' Bill of Rights, Girls Incorporated of Memphis encourages all girls to be strong, smart and bold by asserting their basic rights.
